Sophie An

Sophie An paints abstract-figurative works in which small painted points stand for stars, each carrying a prayer for life and peace; her subjects range across memory, hoped-for futures and dreams. She holds a BA and MFA in sculpture from Seoul National University and an MFA from the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London. Her honors include the Asia Artist Award (2012) and the Saatchi Showdown for Drawing first selection in London (2011), and she completed a residency at Yoojoong Art Center, Seoul (2013–2014).
