Painting Together With an Artist: 'Healing Through Art'

"Healing Through Art" — the culminating exhibition of Soohoh Gallery's community art-healing program "Painting Together With an Artist," run with the Seongnam Community Council. Fourteen "silver-haired" first-time painters, guided by resident artist Jeong Sung-won through basic drawing, colored pencil, and acrylic painting, present the works born from a season of dedicated practice.

Time gives birth to new life and bursts open bright blossoms, but past that peak the gray hour of withering always waits. In an age of hundred-year lifespans, people fear this "gray shock," this second act of life. Yet these ten courageous artists chose the healing that art offers over vague fear, wrestling with brush and canvas until, in the end, they fell in love with it.

We hope this exhibition becomes a heartfelt encounter with the art of aging beautifully and gracefully.
