Sunwoo Kim Solo Exhibition: EXPEDITION

We sincerely congratulate Sunwoo Kim, winner of the 9th Soohoh Artist Open Call, on her solo exhibition. Through her works of jungles and dodo birds, the artist guides contemporary people living in an unpredictable era toward a world of new possibility, raising discourse on how modern people, caught within the norms presented by media and society, forget their true desires and are reduced to mere accessories. The dodo bird she depicts — an extinct animal that gave up its wings and lost the ability to fly — is a self-portrait of contemporary people who abandon freedom to settle within specific standards and frames. This exhibition is a joyful expedition, an invitation to escape the frames demanded by our era and set out to discover our true selves and a happy life.
