Byun Nam-seok Solo Exhibition
Feb 18, 2025 – Feb 28, 2025 · 수호갤러리

Byun Nam-seok has long explored the balance of objects and the world through his sculpture. In this new body of work, the artist extends that inquiry to sound — an invisible element that seeps deep into our senses, evoking memory and stirring emotion — searching for a new possibility of balance beyond the visual.
Sound is not merely something heard: it shapes space, flows through time, and organizes sensory experience. The artist explores how sound achieves balance, collides, and resonates — never static, but constantly shifting and interacting with its surroundings, like a sculpture suspended in air.
As climate change and environmental pollution intensify, natural sound is disappearing while artificial sound takes its place. The artist proposes sound as a balancing element connecting environment and humanity, made visible as a language in its own right — in an exhibition themed, under Soohoh Gallery's 2025 keynote "Environment and Art," around the possibility of harmony between art and environment.
