Sara Lee
이사라

Sara Lee (b. 1979) paints "Wonderland" — a vivid dream-world of happy, curious girls, childhood dolls and mischievous magic wands. Layer upon layer of thinly applied paint is scratched through with a blade, building luminous patterned surfaces in a process the artist likens to meditative practice.
She holds a PhD in painting from Hongik University and degrees from Sookmyung Women's University. Awards include Best New Artist at Seoul Arts Center (2006), the New Frontier Prize at Danwon Art Museum (2005) and the Dong-A Art Prize (2004). Her works are in the collections of the MMCA Art Bank, Moran Museum of Art, Seoul Museum and others, and she has collaborated widely with brands and broadcasters, winning KBS's art competition show "No Money No Art".
